KLAMATH SOLAR

This demonstration solar project launched by PacifiCorp, Energy Trust of Oregon, and Northwest SEED will install a 17kW photovoltaic system near Malin, OR in the Klamath Basin.

PROJECT STATUS
A design-build contractor has been selected and is currently preparing the site for installation. Installation is scheduled for Summer 2007.

Through this pilot project, we will demonstrate that energy costs can be reduced through the use of photovoltaics, reducing the hardship of rate increases. This pilot site will provide data to support development of additional photovoltaic systems for Klamath irrigators as well as potential replication in other farming communities in the Northwest.

We have conducted a pre-site assessment and have determined that the system would offset, through net metering, approximately 70-80% of the electricity for irrigation on the farm.
